As a homeowner, choosing the right material and color for your roof can be a real challenge. We’ve found that the homeowners with the highest satisfaction rate with their design choices, work directly with us to analyze the best option for their home. With Jennifer and Donnie’s home being located in Hudson, WI near the picturesque St. Croix River and surrounded by mature trees, it made sense to go with an option that took into consideration the natural backdrop already in place. The final selection for the roofing material was GAF Glenwood Lifetime Designer Shingles. GAF is the largest manufacturer of roofing materials in North America. The Glenwood Lifetime Designer Shingles are a fairly recent product line. The shingles are lauded as the most authentic wood-shake-looking shingle available in the marketplace. This is accomplished with the help of three layers. Not only does this make them more aesthetically pleasing, but also more durable than ordinary shingles. Weathered Wood, a combination of dark brown hues, is the color of shingle that was chosen. It perfectly complemented the home’s rustic burgundy siding.
Another concerning fact about the 18-year-old home is that it did not have a gutter system.
While there are a variety of reasons that the absence of gutters can prove problematic, there was one that significantly stood out at this St. Croix Valley home. The wood had rotted around the home, especially on the fascia boards. Fascia provides the finished look to a home’s trim. It covers rafter ends and creates a surface along the edge of the roof. It protects the house from extreme weather by creating a barrier against rain. Fascia also curtails rodents from getting into your home’s walls by covering the openings between the wall and the roof. The absence of gutters can cause excess water to hit wooden fascia. This can cause it to start breaking down in a matter of hours. The process for replacement is both costly and time-consuming.
At Lindus Construction, we believe in empowering our installers to become some of the best in the industry. One way we do this is by having crews dedicated to each product we sell.
Once the Wisconsin based roofing team had completed the installation of the GAF Roofing System, our LeafGuard® Gutter installation team got to work. Terratone, a dark gray shade, was the color of gutter installed. The new gutters have a similar effect to that of crown molding. Wisconsin homeowners with LeafGuard® Brand Gutters experience peace of mind knowing that the gutters are guaranteed never to clog, the ScratchGuard™ finish on the exterior won’t chip, peel, or crack and the warranties transfer to the next homeowner.
